New Hope, Heart

Hello Wonderfolks 🖤

Hope everyone is doing good!

What is your favourite movie?

If someone poses me this question, three Tamil movies tops my list: Mouna Raagam (lit. Silent symphony)- 1986, Rhythm- 2000 and Vaaranam Aayiram (lit. Thousand Elephants)- 2008.

A few go awe with my answer, a few with a sigh, call mine a weird taste and the rest might think its obvious for someone to fall for such films.

Different people react differently.

All the above three movies have very similar plotline – The first love of the leads depart the world. But eventually they end up marrying another person, not in the replacement of their firsts rather they accept to decide the happenings in life.

These movies additionally have melancholic music in their background that connects the audience deeply.

I usually spend a lot of time living inside my head. When I approached these movies with a deeper insight, I realized two things :

Firstly, coping up with the loss of someone we love is honestly arduous but life has to move on and time heals everything.

Secondly, life turns out to be beautiful when we decide to accept the unpredictable moves of it.

Being a student who just completed 12th grade boards, my Indian society believes that my marks out of 500 decides the destination of my life.

And thus, I made two firm decisions:

1) I shall not worry if my marks aren’t sufficient to get into the University that I wished or if I fail to pursue the course that I wanted to.

I am sure life comes up with a backup option to both University and the course that I missed.

2) I would mend my mind to accept the alternative that life offered and work hard to excel in it.

These realizations infused hopefulness in me. I started to understand that something good will happen in the future and I call this as HOPE.

“Hope can be a powerful force. Maybe there is no actual magic in it, but when you know what you hope for most and hold it like a light within you, you can make things happen, almost like magic”.

– Laini Taylor

I realized that instead of being tormented by the worry of the past, one can focus on today to make tomorrow a better one.

Despite setbacks, obstacles, hardships, heartbreaks and misfortunes, let’s still have hope on the next chapter of our life and expect the best to happen.

“Let’s learn to Heal and Excel.”

  7. Vaaranam Aayiram is one of the best romantic movies where all the songs became such a huge hit. I agree with you and I feel that it’s one of the best romantic movies I have seen until today.

Apart from movies, I really loved your perspective on school and how grades don’t decide your life. I also feel that way where real-life experiences and knowledge of the world will take you further compared to books and some framed education.

Plz keep writing and I hope to see more of you in the future!!!!
