Reminiscence…

If I’m given a chance,
I would get back to my childhood,
to talk with my soft toys rather than people, though neither responds.

If I’m given a chance,
I would get back to my childhood,
to cherish the carefree days,
problem free weeks and enthusiastic years.

If I’m given a chance,
I would get back to my childhood
where fights lasted moments not months,
when Mum’s caress healed better than music.

If I was given a chance,
I would get back to my childhood
when I was busy searching lost pencils not the lost humans,
and where being innocent was not a big deal.

Don’t ponder over the past; live the present,
they keep saying.
I’m trying, trying my best, I say to myself.

Thank you so much for reading!šŸ™‚

  2. Nicely written. Only yesterday, the past rewinded in my mind and I was missing so much.
Today, you have written a poem with a desire return back to the glorious days.
The only difference between soft toys and humans is that the latter are hard.

      1. I was actually happy seeing you calling me Di. Nehal and few others call me so. I loved being called Di. I would hardly be 4 or 5 years older than you, so calling me Di is absolutely fine, Kripaa!ā¤ļø

  3. Oh wow….how beautifully you’ve expressed the past & the present….keep trying….to live in the now, my friend….you’ll find the same innocence, carefree times….once again….where the Being isn’t hiding behind the layers of the Self….where the heart speaks louder than the mind ā¤ļø

  4. Beautifully written, Hema! ā¤ It is a positive thing to revisit childhood and enjoy happy memories…a welcome break from the responsibilities and harsh realities of daily life. Every age has both advantages and disadvantages, though. One of the advantages of being adults is that we get to make our own choices. We don't have to eat our peas or go to bed at eight if we don't want to. šŸ™‚ Yay!

Stay safe and be happy! ā¤

    1. Yes, ma’am. You are right. Though we have responsibilities in adulthood it’s another phase of Life. Also, we get our freedom to make decisions.
Thank you so much for the feedback, ma’am.ā¤ļø

  5. Childhood is undoubtedly the most memorable and cherished time of every humanā€™s life. But living in the present is the key to happiness, so if given a chance, try to bring your childlike energy and innocence in your day to day life.
