Who am I if nobody is watching?

umm that’s my face :p

(i) if nobody is watching, i’ll walk barefoot feeling the roughness of the grass and coldness of the dews in our park’s lawn.

(ii) if nobody is watching, i’ll try to stare at the sun with eyes wide open and gaze at the moon as if she’s my best friend.

(iii) if nobody is watching, i’ll count the fallen leaves and take dried flowers home to preserve them in my bookshelf.

(iv) if nobody is watching, i’ll click candid pictures of old couples, they make me believe that love lasts over an eternity.

v) if nobody is watching, i’ll close my eyes and listen to the songbird’s serenade, the melancholic melody of life.

vi) if nobody is watching, i’ll lie on my classroom’s desk and admire the perfectly architected cuckoo’s nest that’s made of willow’s twigs.

vii) if nobody is watching, i’ll stop all the clock, take deep breaths, understand life, decipher people, comprehend minds and act accordingly.

viii) if nobody is watching, i’ll give voice to my opinions that i too often ignore/bury.

ix) if nobody is watching, i’ll stand here petrified
flaunting my sash of imperfections with enough pride and confidence.

(x) if nobody is watching, i’ll be me, myself, enjoying the pretty, little joys, free from the thoughts of being judged, based on choices and acts.

So, that’s an old piece of mine little close to my heart. New pieces are on the way, hope I complete all the drafts I abandoned for a while!

  3. This is wonderful! You always come up with the loveliest ideas. A good question to ponder indeed: what would you do if no one is watching? Ironically, you could do all of these you mentioned even when people are watching you. Nobody should be allowed to question a star gazer and an eternal nature lover. This piece is close to my heart too 🤍 Such a stunning work (as always).

  20. This is amazing! It’s deeper than the eyes meet it, thought provoking. This is cry for freedom. Freedom to do those things that makes the poet happy. That reminds me, if no one is watching, I’ll never polish my toe nails. This is one of the things I do for wary eyes and condemning minds.
